I wonder what kind of ridicule and snide remarks Joseph endured because of accepting Mary as his wife. It was so counter cultural, counter religious tradition and law. At least when looking at it from a human perspective. But the angel of the Lord gave him instructions and he was obedient. Makes me think about the way it is with us today, sometimes something radical is asked of us, something even contrary to what the church is accustomed to in tradition or to our understanding of "the law". What are we willing to endure to follow what God is asking of us?
